Position Summary: Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA)

As a psychologist at Opal Autism Centers, you play a major role in what is usually the first step for families to access timely and evidence-based care. Psychologists conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for children, usually between the ages of 18 months and six years of age. Evaluations include an initial intake with parents/caregivers, administration of diagnostic testing components, detailed diagnostic report (including treatment recommendations), and feedback with parents/caregivers to discuss results.

Annual Salary: $85,000 - $95,000

 

Key Responsibilities:
Opal provides a white glove experience for families from diagnosis to treatment. Our intake
and admissions teams schedule the initial intake and seamlessly gather initial referrals, demographic forms, and other relevant records ahead of the scheduled intake. Psychologists may schedule testing and feedback appointments independently if they wish to do so.

Intake & Pre-Assessment Appointments: Conduct pre-assessment intake appointments to gather client history, concerns, and initial observations, ensuring a smooth transition into the diagnostic process.

Clinical Assessments & Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess for ASD and other commonly co-occurring neurodevelopmental disorders in person as well as telehealth, providing individualized diagnostic conclusions and tailored treatment recommendations based on assessment findings.

Family & Client Support: Provide post-evaluation feedback to clients and families, ensuring they understand assessment results and next steps.

Collaboration & Treatment Planning: Work closely with BCBAs, clinical staff, intake, and admissions teams to ensure timely access to care and oversight of client treatment plans as needed.

Quality Assurance & Compliance: Adhere to Opal Autism Centers’ standards for ethical care, quality assurance, and best clinical practices. Participate in administrative and quality improvement initiatives as needed.

Travel Requirements: Regularly travel to various Opal Autism Centers across North Carolina to meet client and center needs. Occasional local, state, and regional travel may be required.


Qualifications:

  • Education & Licensure: Master's degree in clinical psychology or a related field; current LP or LPA licensure in North Carolina.
  • Clinical Expertise: Experience diagnosing ASD, IDD, and other neurodevelopmental disorders using best-practice tools (e.g., ADOS-2, CARS-2, ADI-R, ASRS, Vineland-3, BASC-3).
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong clinical writing, communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Work Environment: Ability to work in a hybrid role, balancing remote and in-clinic assessments with remote documentation and collaboration.
